Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 1776 !
We are excited that you have chosen to consider our Troop to continue your career in Scouting. Our sponsor is Hampden VFW Post 4633.
Troop 1776 was started in the Summer of 2004 by three experienced leaders who had over 25 years service in Scouting. One of the major factors that will contribute to our continued success is the ACTIVE participation of Scouts and support from parents like you.
Troop 1776 is a "Boy-Led" Troop, where the adult leaders serve to facilitate the leadership learning opportunities in the boys. We have an outing/ activity every month and offer various opportunities for camping throughout the year, from week-long camp at Camp Roosevelt to weekend campouts in the other seasons - yes, even in Winter!
We meet on Tuesday evenings at the Hampden VFW from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. The first Tuesday of each month is the PLC (Patrol Leader Council) and that is held at various parents' homes.
When a young man joins the troop, his parents join the troop as well. Experience has taught us that your son's interest, accomplishments and achievements will be in direct proportion to your participation with him. You will find that the time spent in Scouting is quality time between parent and son. We encourage all parents to get involved in the troop through leadership or in a support role.
Thank you for joining our family at Troop 1776 !
Sincerely,
Curtis D. Slininger
